Maui Jim began in the 1980s as a small eyewear company on Ka’anapali Beach in Lahaina, Maui. The founders recognized a gap in the market for sunglasses that could both shield the eyes from intense glare and harmful UV rays while enhancing the vibrant colors of the island. This led to the development of the PolarizedPlus2 lens, a technology that would define the brand’s approach to eyewear.

Starting with the Classic Collection, which included just seven styles, Maui Jim has grown into a brand offering over 125 sunglasses designs, all polarized and providing full protection against UVA and UVB rays. The brand has also expanded into eyeglasses, maintaining the same commitment to quality and visual clarity.

From its original office in Lahaina, Maui, every pair of sunglasses continues to be designed and tested with meticulous attention to detail.
